In a classroom style environment, you’ll learn everything you need to know to be able to create a successful social media strategy that gets results! We’ll look at 5 platforms – Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, Twitter & Snapchat with a focus on the two biggest and discuss best practice, audience insights, content creation, paid adverts including the Adverts Manager and much more. Further to that, we’ll also take a real time in-depth look behind the scenes at some of NZ’s most recognisable brands. Throughout the workshop, you’ll also complete set tasks that will then form the base of your own strategy.
This workshop is suited to beginner/intermediate level users and is limited to just 30 attendees to allow for more in-depth learning.
SECTION 1 – THE SOCIAL MEDIA EVOLUTION
We’ll take a detailed look at the latest audience statistics and growth across social media in New Zealand. We’ll then look at how social media compares to traditional media and discuss the major differences, along with a focus on behaviour.

Looking at each platform we’ll compare usage, audiences including demographics, functionality, features and benefits and more. We’ll also take a wider look at how these platforms have evolved and how they continue to innovate in today’s world.

SECTION 3 – UNDERSTANDING AUDIENCES
Understanding first how audiences behave is one of the quickest ways to achieve success on social media. We’ll analyse how audiences behave, how they use social media and we can take advantage of this by introducing a strategic approach. We’ll take a deep dive into live versions of the Facebook Insights section for some of NZ & Australia’s biggest brands and show you what you NEED to be paying attention too, along with what you should ignore.

SECTION 4 – THE SUCCESSFUL SOCIAL MEDIA STRATEGY
We’ll discuss the fundamental building blocks to achieve success on social media. These are our must-haves that 10 years of experience have told us we need to include in any strategy. This section is all about working smarter, not harder – we’ve done the hard yards to find out what works (and what doesn’t!)

Struggling with content creation and what to post? We break it down, post by post and compare each type – photos, videos, stories and more. We’ll discuss what works best, what the audience prefers and how you can simplify the entire process so content creation becomes easy. We’ll look at formats, environments and also discuss diversity, objectives, consistency, hash-tagging, geo-tagging and much more.

SECTION 6 – INTRODUCTION TO THE ADVERTS MANAGER (FACEBOOK)
The Adverts Manager can be overwhelming, but once you’re familiar with it you’ll soon realise it’s your key to reaching your desired audience in mass in a cost-effective way. We’ll show you real time live campaigns and breakdown the jargon, show you how we build campaigns and how you can create success via paid advertising. Further to that, we’ll take you through creating bespoke custom audiences that are based on who YOU want to reach.

We’ll compare each advert format and discuss the environments that these display in. They all do something a little different, and understanding this will give you a much deeper insight into what format is right for you.

Competitions are a fantastic way to grow your audience but there certainly is the right way and the wrong way to run them. We’ll take you through how we develop competitions that reach millions of users, including some real time examples of current comps and how we have built these out to achieve high reach and engagement.
SECTION 9 – YOUR OWN SOCIAL MEDIA & CONTENT STRATEGY
Throughout the workshop we have broken out each individual section and completed a task. This has allowed us to focus in on thinking about each section to really identify the big opportunities – but also where we could potentially be doing a lot better. You’ll formulate your full strategic approach using the data gathered throughout the workshop and this will form your plan going forward.
